How we heat our homes is changing. With energy costs constantly rising and climate change affecting us all – low-carbon technology has a bigger and bigger role to play in the future of UK energy.
The UK government has highlighted the critical importance of decarbonising homes across the country in order to achieve the UK’s 2050 Net Zero target. This ambitious plan includes the phase-out of gas heating in new homes by 2023 and a target to install 600,000 heat pumps every year by 2028. Now more than ever, there is a clear and urgent demand for a skilled renewables task force.
Join our MCS workshops to find out how you could play an important part in the move towards Net Zero.
1) Becoming MCS Certified
Wednesday 29 September 2021
Session 1: 10.30am – 11.30am
Session 2: 1.30pm – 2.30pm
Come and join us in the Boardroom just off the CBS atrium
MCS is the certification scheme for low-carbon technologies, such as Heat Pumps and Solar PV. We certify quality installations, and renewable installers, to ensure consumers have confidence in home-grown energy. The MCS certification requirements are slightly different to other schemes in the sector, but don’t worry, help is on hand from our MCS Scheme Support Team to guide you through the process.
In this workshop, hear from our CEO, Ian Rippin, and our MCS Scheme Support, who will share the requirements for MCS certification, the MCS standards, what to expect when becoming certified and the support that is available to help make your business become part of the green revolution. The session will close with a short Q&A, giving attendees the opportunity to ask any questions.
2) Introduction to Heat Pumps
Wednesday 29 September 2021
Session 1: 12.00pm – 1.00pm
Session 2: 3.00pm – 4.00pm
Come and join us in the Boardroom just off the CBS atrium
In this workshop, the MCS Scheme Support Team will explain the increasing application of Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHP) for space and hot water heating in homes and buildings, as the UK looks to reduce energy consumption and CO2 emissions in the drive towards Net Zero by 2050.
Joined by MCS Certified Installer, Nick Salini, from Thermal Earth, this session will give the perfect overview of heat pump technology, looking at how a heat pumps work, the importance of understanding and reducing heat loss, along with heat pump and emitter selection, the considerations for installation and compliance with MCS standards. The session will close with a short Q&A, giving attendees the opportunity to ask any questions.
Speakers include:
