Tommy Ngai is the Head of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Technical Effectiveness at WaterAid UK, based in London.  He leads a team of technical specialists to support the design and implementation of WaterAid’s WASH programmes worldwide. Tommy has been working in the WASH sector for well over 20 years, with extensive experience across Asia, Africa and Latin America, on WASH programme design, engineering, applied research, innovations management, capacity development, systems strengthening, and sustainable development.  He holds a PhD from the University of Cambridge focusing on applying systems thinking to WASH programme management, and Master of Engineering degree from Massachusetts Institute of Technology focusing on drinking water quality and arsenic mitigation.
