Suzannah is the Chief Executive of Build UK, the leading representative organisation for the UK construction industry.

 

Inspired to join the industry following a site visit whilst at school, Suzannah’s career in construction spans more than 30 years. She is widely respected for her work with Government, media and industry stakeholders and received an OBE in 2024 for services to the industry.

 

After leading the National Specialist Contractors’ Council for 13 years, she was the driving force behind the merger to form Build UK in 2015, which brought the industry together within one organisation. Under her leadership, Build UK is at the forefront of transforming construction, including improving payment performance, streamlining the pre-qualification process through the Common Assessment Standard, and inspiring the next generation to choose a career in construction via Open Doors. She also led the industry response to the COVID-19 pandemic, with the Site Operating Procedures developed by Build UK keeping the industry open throughout every lockdown.

 

Suzannah has a degree in Construction Management from Liverpool University, was one of the first Timewise Power 50, which recognises individuals working part-time in senior roles, and received the University of Liverpool Alumni Award 2025. She is a member of the Construction Leadership Council, the Building Advisory Committee, and the Advisory Board of the Circle Partnership, as well as a non-executive director of CSCS Ltd and the People’s Pension Holdings Ltd.
