Stuart is founder and director of Barr Group, an organisation made up of three companies, Barr Build, Barr Kitchens, and Barr Joinery. Training initially as a cabinet maker, he subsequently learnt the construction industry from grassroots as an apprentice site carpenter. In 2002 Stuart decided to go it alone, winning his first job, and, in doing so, creating the foundations of what would become Barr Group Ltd.
Stuart trained in eco-building at the Centre for Alternative Technology (CAT) in Wales in 2004. His learnings from CAT would form a key part of Barr Group’s philosophy, which is simply to “build well” and to put the clients’ needs front and central to every project. Over the years Barr Group have been the proud recipients of significant regional and national low-carbon build awards.
