My role provides input to, and management of construction related work at UKAS. This includes leading operational and development activities, as well as supporting, monitoring and coordinating the technical aspects of the accreditation service. Sitting on construction industry related committees, as well as managing the technical focus persons who also attend such stakeholder groups to help identify relevant input: where advances in industry, changes in legislation or government policy drive development or updates to construction specific policies or processes.
Before joining UKAS in 2009, I worked for a civil engineering consultancy; planning, and designing national highway schemes from geotechnical investigation through design, to supervision and completion of the construction phase.
Prior to that, I managed construction materials testing laboratories for major projects across the UK and Ireland, covering the full spectrum of construction materials and products, construction methods and installation, as well as finished product inspection and testing. During this phase of my career, training and secondments in structural investigation, building investigation, geotechnical engineering and pavement design broadened my knowledge of the construction sector.
I hold qualifications in civil engineering, construction materials and technical communications.
