Paul Daley, known online and in the plumbing industry as Captain Backflow, is a UK-based plumbing contractor specialising in backflow prevention and water regulations compliance. He runs Daley Plumbing and Heating Limited, a specialist contractor focused on backflow protection devices, such as Reduced Pressure Zone (RPZ) valves, which prevent contamination of drinking water supplies. Paul is a Water Industry Approved Plumber, an RPZ valve tester and installer, providing services including installation, testing, commissioning, and certification of backflow prevention devices across various regions in the UK. Paul is also registered with CIPHE and GasSafe. To raise awareness about the risks of water contamination (like backflow incidents that can cause issues such as blue or green tinted water), Paul created the superhero persona Captain Backflow. He uses this character on social media and at industry events to educate plumbers, installers, and the public about water safety. He has even attended international events, such as conferences with the American Backflow Prevention Association in the USA and the Backflow Prevention Association of Australia to promote best practices and gain valuable knowledge from international partners.
