My career started out as an apprentice in plumbing and heating, which has led me a long journey of learning all my life. I gained so much experience from the two brothers that taught me so much about plumbing and heating as well as life skills, I will always have the fondest memories of that time.
I took the plunge and went self-employed, an ambition I had since I was a young child. This was using that valuable experience I had gained and more. I did employ my own apprentices as well as employees, which was an experience.
Further Education has been a sector to pass on my skills and knowledge as well as learning from it.
I have worked in many colleges in many roles from lecturer to middle manager. The greatest pleasure you get from the roles is when a former student spot you years later and thanks you for being part of their life, that is when you know, you know!
Now in the role as Technical Manager at the CIPHE, I bring my key attributes supporting and development into passionate project successes. Quality and integrity are key to success, the true value of being part of an Institute for professionals.
I judge a broad range plumbing and heating competitions across the country, from the HIP Learner of the Year, Heating Installer of the Year, World Skills UK, and the Installer Merit Awards, all are great messages of emphatic people doing out of the ordinary things.
The CIPHE allows me to bring all that variety of experience to so many areas of the industry to give support for my passion, Plumbing and Heating and the people that make a difference as professionals.
