Technical Director , CIPHE

Technical Director at the Chartered Institute for Plumbing and Heating Engineers (CIPHE), bringing a career spanning over three decades across gas engineering, technical education, and qualification development. Beginning as an apprentice with British Gas, they developed extensive hands-on expertise across domestic, commercial, and industrial environments before progressing into further education and technical leadership roles.

With over 14 years at EAL, they led the development of nationally recognised qualifications and apprenticeship standards, including major contributions to Plumbing and Heating frameworks, T Levels, and regulatory-aligned assessment strategies across the UK. They have chaired industry groups, managed multi jurisdictional qualification portfolios, and worked closely with employers to ensure training reflects real-world competency needs.

In their current role, they lead CIPHE’s technical strategy, contributing to global discussions on standards, safety, public health, and the low carbon transition. Their work focuses on aligning skills, training, and professional standards with emerging technologies and regulatory change, supporting the development of a competent and future-ready workforce worldwide.
