After studying law and qualifying as a solicitor, Elmar Esser spent more than twenty years in senior positions at associations in the construction industry in Germany. Among other things, he was Chief Executive of the Central Association for Sanitary, Heating and Air Conditioning, the Central Association of German Roofers, and legal advisor to the Central Association of the German Construction Industry. From 2009 to 2017, he was a member of the board of the World Plumbing Council, the global association for the plumbing, heating and air conditioning industry. He has always placed particular emphasis on attracting well-trained skilled workers to the trade. International cooperation such as the World Plumbing Council and participation in international championships such as Worldskills and Euroskills have always been of particular importance to him. He has now been working as a solicitor and consultant based in Berlin for several years and also advises the World Plumbing Council, among others.
