I am apprentice-trained and have 20 years of experience in the electrical industry. I have worked and managed residential, commercial, and industrial projects in the public and private sectors. I spent time lecturing at one of the largest colleges in the UK, Coleg Cambria, where I eventually became Curriculum Lead for Building Services. During my time in education, I also provided subject matter expert services to qualification regulators and awarding organisations.
I joined the NICEIC in 2021 as the Technical Training Developer. The NICEIC is the UK’s largest voluntary register of electrical businesses and certifies over 38,000 businesses assessing them to ensure the installation work they undertake meets the required technical and safety standards. I finished my time with the NICEIC as their Learning Experience Manager.
I represented both the college and NICEIC on the judging panel for the premier skills competition for the UK’s electrical industry SkillELECTRIC, the only skills competition aligned to WorldSkills UK.
I recently joined EAL Awards as the Lead Technical Advisor for Building Services Engineering (BSE). EAL is a leading awarding organisation of vocational qualifications. I use my experience in industry and education to support centres, training providers, and employers in successfully delivering our learning packages to maximise good outcomes for learners.
