Stuart Fairlie is a well-known figure in the Energy Assessment industry having played a significant role in the development of energy assessment calculations for UK buildings.

As MD at Elmhurst Energy Systems, Stuart is responsible for maintaining Elmhurst’s position at the forefront of technical and legislative thinking. His 20 plus years of experience includes the development of the original RdSAP methodology and Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs), the Scottish Single Survey trials, and part of numerous working groups on Building Regulations/Standards and energy efficiency regulations/policies over the years, as well as a member of the Steering Group on PAS2035.


Stuart also holds membership for the National Energy Foundation’s (NEF) Advisory Council, as well as the SAP Scientific Integrity Group (SAPSIG) & Industry Forum (SAPIF). He is also chair of the Energy Assessor Scheme Operating Board (EASOB), is a member of Chartered Association of Building Engineers (CABE) and is a member of NHBC Foundation expert panel.
