Andrew McLean is a Policy Advisor for the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS). Andrew is the policy lead for Installer Training in the Heat Pump Installer Skills team. The UK is targeting a rapid and ambitious decarbonisation of heat in buildings, as set out in the Heat and buildings strategy.

Heat pump installer training will be crucial in developing a workforce that can deliver on the Heat and buildings strategy, through both the upskilling of existing heating engineers and the training of entirely new heating apprentices.

Prior to joining BEIS, Andrew worked as a policy researcher. His work covered the decarbonisation of road transport, and the monitoring and reduction of air pollution in cities.
