Metex Ltd has launched a new 5-in-1 silicone finishing tool for shaping and smoothing silicone sealant – for example, for sinks, shower trays and bathtubs. The Metex 5-in-1 Silicone Block is designed to give silicone joints a pro finish as easily as possible – and unlike other silicone finishing tools, the 5-in-1 Silicone Block does 5 jobs with just one tool.
Silicone Block creates a consistent width silicone bead from start to finish with just a few swipes – and depending on the side used, you can choose either 6mm or 8mm width bead thickness. It also stops dents in beads when going over grout joints (no additional fiddly tool required) and creates sharp, consistent internal corners. And as the Silicone Block is only 30mm wide, it also works in hard-to-reach tight areas such as behind taps. As an added bonus, it doesn’t leave a trough in the sealant in which water could accumulate – unlike finishing silicone with your finger!
Silicone Block was created by product innovator Karl Dorn, who works as a plasterer by day and got the idea for the product from his job: “Years ago my father taught me how to make cornices by pushing a specially made tool over wet plaster to form a very fancy decorative moulding. Silicone Block is based on the same principle, giving the user a perfect shaped bead of silicone every time, without the need for guesswork! It has pre-formed corners which act as a guide to create perfection. The chamfered edges can’t be changed, so the beads of silicone stay the same width from start to finish, and it can also be used upright allowing the user to get in those hard to get at areas like behind taps easily.”
Metex Director Daniel Bamford commented: “Applying silicone sealant can be messy and frustrating – we’re excited to be launching a tool that takes the pain out of sealant jobs!”
