Elise Walters is a Year 2 female apprentice electrician and 2022 was the first year she attended InstallerSHOW. We caught up with her to find out her first impressions…
What was your first experience at InstallerSHOW like?
My first experience at InstallerSHOW was certainly an eyeopener and much better than I expected. I must admit that I’ve always thought that the SHOW was mainly for plumbers or heating engineers, but there was lots on offer for electricians to get stuck into. There were so many interactive stands to try that it made the day fly past!
The opportunities to learn about the future of industry, as well as the companies and products that are driving this change were also great. I learnt a lot about the benefits of electrical charging and renewable energy for example.
Were there any standout products or manufacturers at the event and why?
The manufacturer that always stands out for me is Big Wipes. They always know how to put on a great show, which doesn’t just pull you in but also really shows how their products are used.
Another one would be Velocity, they always have something I want to purchase from their stand.
Was there anything that surprised you the most about attending InstallerSHOW?
I was surprised with how well organised the whole event was. I know that this was the first year at the NEC but it felt like they had been their for years. I’ve been at exhibitions and events of a much smaller scale than InstallerSHOW and they’ve felt a bit all over the place, so the SHOW has definitely stood out for me!
What is your biggest takeaway from the SHOW?
My biggest takeaway from the show would be the great new products I brought home of course! But also the opportunity to network. I met so many people that I know of through my social network but also it was great to meet and speak to new people!
Overall, I would definitely recommend my fellow electricians to give InstallerSHOW a try next year – if not for anything else because there is so much there!
InstallerSHOW returns to the NEC, Birmingham on 27-29 June 2023 – keep an eye out on our social media for show updates.
