Ideal Heating Q&A

We caught up with Ideal Heating to discuss the Logic Air, training, and plans for InstallerSHOW.

How has the market responded to the Logic Air since its launch last year?

Following its launch in April 2023, Logic Air has secured a number of significant contracts and has received positive feedback from customers, installers and homeowners.

Logic Air was specifically selected to be installed in over 200 properties across the North East, as part of a £7m upgrade investment by social housing provider Bernicia Group and the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero.

Emma Searle, Bernicia Group Retrofit Manager, says: “The feedback received from our residents has been overwhelmingly positive with both the installation and performance of the Logic Air heat pump.

“Ideal Heating has been exceptionally supportive and has delivered an outstanding service to both Bernicia and our installer. In addition, they have conducted training sessions for several of our internal staff members, enhancing our ability to assist our residents with the new heating system and optimise its efficiency.”

In Bristol, Logic Air was the heat pump of choice to be installed in Woodstock Homes properties, alongside the pre-plumbed cylinder and Halo Air. Owain Barker, Partnership Director at Woodstock Homes, comments: “The Ideal Logic Air heat pump stood out in the market in its design, and especially in its performance. Together with its other components, the cylinder and the Halo Air thermostat, really made it a market leader and perfect choice for us.”

Mark Shortman from MG Plumbing adds: “We won the contract as plumbing contractor here, and we recommended they use Ideal because of the aftercare service. We had training arranged by Ideal and we have fitted like 14 units here and we’ve had no problem with them. I want to work with a company that helps me and makes my job easier.”

The Logic Air was tailored specifically with traditional gas boiler engineers in mind, its ease of install and dedicated heat pump support team make the transition to renewable energy as easy as possible for both installers and homeowners alike.

What provision have you made to ensure your heat pump training is as accessible as possible across the UK?

In the last two years we have invested over £3m into our new Training and Technology centres in Hull and Luton, alongside updating our existing locations in Leeds and Dalgety Bay to become heat pump focused. These facilities are some of the best in the industry and draw people from around the UK to benefit from the leading training technologies installed within them. We also work with a growing number of partner sites where our heat pump products are fitted where the local training provider will typically offer ASHP training with Ideal supplementing with additional product specific training and support. We are also launching our new Expert Academy OnDemand service that will allow installer and industry partners to learn a wide range of courses related to heat pumps, system design and products free of charge.

You recently secured headline sponsorship of the SkillPLUMB competition. What was the motivation behind this?

Andrew Johnson, Training Director of Ideal Heating, says: “By investing in SkillPLUMB, we’re investing in young plumbers and upcoming industry talent and, importantly, introducing them to low-carbon products such as heat pumps. This aligns perfectly with our wider company ethos of providing the best training and skills for all our installers across the UK. We look forward to this new collaboration with our established partner BPEC.”
