EGGER introduces new Flame-Retardent OSB Board

EGGER UK has expanded its portfolio of housebuilding products with the launch of EGGER OSB Flammex, a CE-marked panel with a declared reaction-to-fire classification that addresses the critical issue of fire protection within the construction industry.

EGGER OSB Flammex is a structural OSB3 panel that combines the performance of a standard OSB3 board with a declared reaction-to-fire classification, thanks to a flame-retardant intumescent coating. The product achieves a Euroclass B-s1, d0 reaction-to-fire classification on the coated side when installed as specified.

In the event of a fire, the board’s flame-retardant intumescent coating forms a barrier that helps limit flame spread across the surface and slows burn-through of the panel. EGGER OSB Flammex is also tested and included within the Structural Timber Association (STA) "Fire During Construction - Tested Products" and certified under WPA Benchmark FR and FR Build schemes.

Available from UK stock in 12mm and 18mm square edged, OSB Flammex can be specified as a solution for interior and exterior walls, as well as for ceiling and roof constructions.

Speaking about the new introduction, Jonathan Lynch, UK Building Products Manager at EGGER UK said: “Fire safety is critical within the construction industry, with the right products and materials helping to protect both people and property. Safety is EGGER’s top priority, and the introduction of EGGER OSB Flammex is a clear indication of this commitment.

“The product meets increased fire safety standards and is manufactured using sustainably sourced soft wood. Easy to cut, handle and fix on site, OSB Flammex offers specifiers a solution that they can trust to meet the high standards expected of buildings today.”

Manufactured under factory production control and CE marked in accordance with EN 13986, the product is supported by an EGGER Declaration of Performance (DoP). Its high

dimensional stability and precise cutting promote long-term performance and a quality installation. The board can be cut to size without chipping and is suitable for installation with metal fixings commonly used in timber construction.
