The building safety landscape has changed fundamentally. The Building Safety Act 2022, the most significant overhaul of building regulation in over 50 years, has redefined accountability across the design and construction process.

With design decision making, and golden thread adherence responsibilities, the Principal Designer must have quality data to evidence the system selections they make – especially for Higher Risk Buildings.

Fire test reports are at the heart of that data. Yet they remain complex, highly technical documents, that are not always easy to access, interpret, or apply.

The Construction Products Reform White Paper and the ongoing development of frameworks like Code for Construction Product Information (CCPI) signal that the industry knows this must improve. But in the meantime principal designers are making critical decisions on live projects.

This panel session brings together a manufacturer's technical expertise, the lived experience of a principal designer navigating these responsibilities on real projects, and the advisory perspective of those supporting design and client teams.

Together, the panel will explore how the industry can work collaboratively to ensure that fire performance data is authentic, accurate, applicable, up to date, and available at the point of specification, and what happens when it isn't.
