Start at Home: From Training to Real-World Heat Pump Installation
Start at Home is a collaborative research initiative between SNIPEF and Nesta, designed to explore whether providing plumbing and heating engineers with a free heat pump to install in their own home could support their transition into the renewable marketplace.
The project addressed a common barrier faced by trained installers: securing their first real-world commission, building confidence with new technologies, and navigating MCS certification. This presentation shares key findings from the pilot, which demonstrated notable increases in installer confidence, technical capability, and advocacy. It also presents new data gathered since the report’s publication, offering continued insight into the experiences of participating businesses.
