The use of engineered stone is a popular choice for kitchen and bathroom surfaces, however cutting, grinding and polishing it can generate high levels of dust containing respirable crystalline silica (RCS).

If the dust is inhaled into the lungs, it can cause devastating, life limiting lung diseases including silicosis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and lung cancer.

Although irreversible, these diseases are preventable with the right controls.

This talk sets out how Great Britain’s kitchen and bathroom installers can protect their health and work safely with engineered stone.
