Future of heating
The future of UK heating is set to be guided by a strategic shift away from fossil fuels toward a low-carbon, electrified system that helps meet the nation's 2050 net-zero target.
Central to this transition is the Warm Homes Plan, a £15 billion package of investment launched in early 2026, which aims to retrofit five million homes by 2030 through enhanced insulation, solar panel adoption, and the widespread rollout of heat pumps.
In this session, we take a look at the measures that will be key to delivering this objective – particularly heat pumps, solar heating, solar PV, and electrical energy storage systems (EESS) – to support low energy demand and innovations such as heat batteries.
