Same, same but different

There’s a brilliant phrase that is used in many local markets across South East Asia when you are perusing goods, and you ask about the product’s authenticity. “Is this T-shirt a NIKE one?” you ask, and the answer invariably comes back “Same, same. But different.”

Such paradoxical thinking could be applied to the macro-economic and geo-political forces that are currently driving businesses across the world. The businesses may be vastly different, but the main themes are remarkably consistent – innovation, the supply chain, sustainability, digital transformation and people and skills.
