As InstallerSHOW’s new official general contractor, GES places huge importance on delivering events that create a lasting impression on people, but not the planet. Working on hundreds of events annually, we see it as not just our ambition but also our responsibility to provide the most sustainable solutions we can. Supporting businesses to present their brands in the best and most ethical way possible is what we’re known for and it’s important to us that our clients feel they are in safe hands.
InstallerSHOW is no different. We work closely with the team, providing solutions that meet their clear business objectives but with the environment at their core.
We have searched long and hard to source partners who can deliver on our aims and allow us to offer the right products. All of our core products are either reused – such as the shell scheme system for the stands or the electrical fittings; or recycled, such as our carpet and graphics – which become plastic pellets and move on to a second life. We have also launched new products such as Rewind flooring solutions. Whereas once our industry was renowned for single-use resources, we now have carpet suppliers, such as Rewind, that provide 100% cradle to grave products that help to cut consumption, use less carbon in their manufacture and are recycled back into carpet.
We’ve taken our own commitment to the next level too and taken time to invest in bespoke innovations. Committed to offering Better Stands, and ridding our industry of single-use disposable space-only stands, we launched our award-winning Show Ready modular stand solution that is the first of its kind and is 100% reusable or recyclable.
Of course, you can’t talk about sustainability without recognizing the impact of your carbon emissions, and this is why we do all we can to reduce transportation requirements. In fact, we have offices at two of the UK’s biggest exhibition centres – NEC and ExCel London. This not only makes for handy delivery options and means we are onsite throughout InstallerSHOW, it significantly reduces our carbon footprint too.
The advances we have made in helping to make exhibitions a more sustainable choice is something we’re extremely proud of and we continue to champion environmental causes wherever we can. We recently secured Silver member status for Sustainable Event Standards extended by the Events Industry Council and we’ve also partnered with a specialist sustainability and social change agency to address our societal and environmental impact and achieve our ambition of working towards BCorp guidelines.
We see it as everyone’s responsibility to make changes for the greater good, are delighted that the team at InstallerSHOW feel the same, and we relish the chance to bring those changes to life.
