Joined up thinking: Why collaboration is crucial
Often, professionals within the KBB and construction sectors find themselves working in silos. Of course there are day-to-day interactions between manufacturers, retailers, installers, merchants, distributors and so on, but these interactions often focus on immediate tasks rather than wider conversations for the benefit of the industry.
As a specialist KBB and construction recruitment consultancy, we work with individuals in various roles across the sectors. With networking a key priority for us, the benefits that come from communicating with one another are hugely apparent to us.
For this reason, we created KBB Futures, which is a biannual roundtable event where different sectors of the KBB sector can communicate with one another to actively shape the future of the industry. The first edition of this initiative proved what’s possible when senior leaders come together with a shared purpose. The energy in the room was inspiring. Those who attended in person left with fresh ideas, renewed focus and a determination to move things forward, while the wider industry joined the conversation online, sharing feedback, insights and further support.
Building on that momentum, the second edition will again bring together a variety of professionals who genuinely care about the future of the KBB industry. Taking place on 24 June 2026 at InstallerSHOW, the roundtable will pick up on common challenges, from apprenticeships to broader sector issues, and agree on solutions with actions that can be taken in the near term.
What makes this initiative powerful is that it moves beyond isolated viewpoints. Manufacturers, retailers, industry associations and other inspiring leaders can come together with a shared goal: to actively shape the future of the industry. By breaking down traditional barriers and encouraging open, honest dialogue across sectors, the roundtable shows what can be achieved when the industry works as one. This collaboration has already sparked new thinking, challenged long-standing assumptions and set foundations for meaningful change.
KBB Futures is just one example of what can happen when we step out of our silos and commit to working together with openness and intent. As the sector navigates skills shortages, evolving customer expectations and the pace of innovation, the need for this collective mindset has never been greater. With each conversation, shared insight and joint action, we move closer to an industry that is not only more connected, but more resilient, more forward‑thinking and better equipped for the future.
