A challenge worth installing yourself in: Race for Change 2026
No phones, no flights, small budget, big impact. Professionals across the construction industry are being challenged to swap their everyday work for a once-in-a-lifetime adventure with real purpose. Race for Change 2026 is a new four-day European charity race designed specifically for construction professionals, bringing together teamwork, problem-solving and resilience.
Launching in June 2026, the challenge will see teams of three dropped into an undisclosed European location with one goal: make it back to the UK within four days. There are no mobile phones, no shortcuts and only a limited budget. Success will depend on communication, adaptability and working together under pressure – skills installers know inside out. The finish line? The Bristan stand at InstallerSHOW 2026, putting the race at the heart of the installer calendar.
Race for Change reflects the changing face of the construction workforce. Each team must include at least two members representing diverse characteristics such as gender, ethnicity, disability, neurodivergence or sexuality. Along the way, teams will document their experiences, highlighting how inclusive teamwork drives better outcomes – whether on the road or on site.
Participants will also take on practical challenges focused on global water scarcity and inclusion, developed with Waterwise and the Construction Industry Coalition (CIC). These tasks connect directly to issues industry professionals are increasingly dealing with, including sustainability, responsible water use and the future skills needed in building services.
The race will raise essential funds for water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) projects and gender equality programmes delivered by charity partner The Cycle, which works at the intersection of climate resilience and social equity. Each team commits to raising a minimum of £2,500 in sponsorship, with half donated to The Cycle and the remainder supporting a charity of their choice. A £2,500 team entry fee also applies to cover event delivery.
The race runs from 19–23 June 2026, including outbound travel. Participants must hold a valid passport and be available for the full duration.
For those working in construction looking for a challenge that goes beyond the day-to-day, Race for Change offers the chance to represent the industry, push personal limits and make a lasting impact.
