A brand-new charity challenge is bringing the construction industry together for an unforgettable test of teamwork, resilience and purpose before reaching the finish line set right inside InstallerSHOW 2026 on the Bristan stand.

Launching in June 2026, Race for Change will see 13 teams from across the construction sector race back to the UK from a mystery European location, raising awareness and funds for inclusivity in construction and global water scarcity initiatives.

Inspired by the hit TV series Race Across the World, participants will travel without phones, with limited funds, and relying entirely on strategy, collaboration and problem-solving to make it home.

The Race to InstallerSHOW

On 19 June 2026, teams of three will be dropped into an undisclosed location somewhere in Europe before beginning a four-day journey back to the UK.

Their final destination will be InstallerSHOW 2026 at the NEC Birmingham, where teams will cross the finish line live on the Bristan stand in front of visitors and exhibitors attending the UK’s leading event for installers and the built environment sector.

The initiative aims to showcase the power of collaboration across the construction industry while supporting meaningful social change.

Championing Inclusivity in Construction

Inclusivity sits at the heart of the challenge.

Every team entering Race for Change must include at least two people representing diverse characteristics, including gender, ethnicity, disability, neurodivergence or sexuality.

The goal is to reflect and promote the importance of diversity within construction while creating opportunities for participants to share their experiences throughout the race.

By placing diverse teams in high-pressure situations that require communication, creativity and trust, the event aims to demonstrate the value inclusive workplaces bring to the industry.

Raising Awareness of Water Scarcity

Throughout the journey, teams will complete a series of themed challenges linked to water scarcity and inclusion.

These challenges are being developed in partnership with Waterwise and the Construction Industry Coalition, helping raise awareness of the growing global water crisis and the need for collective action across the built environment sector.

Supporting Global Change

Each team taking part has committed to raising a minimum of £2,500.

Half of all funds raised will support charity partner The Cycle, which works at the intersection of gender equity and climate resilience by delivering sustainable WASH (water, sanitation and hygiene) services and menstrual health education in communities around the world.

The remaining funds will be donated to each team’s chosen corporate charity partner.

A Finish Line with Impact

More than just a race, Race for Change is designed to unite the construction industry around shared challenges and meaningful action.

By culminating at InstallerSHOW 2026 on the Bristan stand, the challenge will bring those conversations directly into the heart of the industry’s biggest live event highlighting how collaboration, diversity and social responsibility can help drive positive change across the sector.

With the countdown now underway, Race for Change is set to become one of the most unique and inspiring industry initiatives of 2026.
